About Brian.

My Favorite Topic…Me.

I started my IT journey back in 1983 with the Atari 800XL and a low-level, relic of a language, BASIC. I would get the Atari’s ANALOG magazine and copy the programs listed in the magazine verbatim into my computer, learning as I went. The first thing I learned, when I forgot to save one of the programs that took me an evening to type, was how unforgiving a computer could be and a program that was in RAM wasn’t the same as permanent memory (back then we used cassette tapes).

BASIC was the jumping off point, followed by Fortran in high school. College opened up a whole other world in the early 90’s as the Internet started to turn heads. I picked up HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. That led to my first job as a computer teacher for a junior high school. That is also where I learned, I wasn’t cut out to teach the youngsters and switched to the private sector where I started to code SGML.

I moved to a Webmaster position where I learned to use ASP and ColdFusion. PHP would eventually follow suit. I also began as an adjunct faculty member for a local community college teaching a myriad of computer courses. I retired from that after 22 years.

I work with project management and a certified Professional Scrum Master. I work in the cloud and certified in AWS.

Over the last several years, I pivoted to Cybersecurity becoming certified in Risk Management, AI for Cyber, Security+, CISM, and CISSP.
